Many people have this question in mind, so writing somewhat details in this....

It is always to upload in the image in commons. This is a common repository to upload photo. The link is - http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Main_Page The biggest advantage is that we can link the uploaded photo in commons to any language article in wikipedia. for eg. If I have taken a photo of a famous personality and assume that there are articles in say 100 languages of the same personally, once the photo is uploaded, it can be linked to all those articles. So no need to upload separate photo in each wikipedia. Before uploading the photo on commons, pls. read the rules for copy write.....मंदार कुलकर्णी
