==विमानतळास नागरी विमानळ करण्यासाठीची चळवळ==
गोव्यातील राजकारण्यांनी दाबोळीतील आरमारी तळ [[आय.एन.एस. कदंब]] येथे हलविण्याची मागणी वेळोवेळी केलेली आहे. हा नवीन तळ दाबोळीच्या दक्षिणेस ७० किमीवर [[कर्नाटक|कर्नाटकातील]] [[कारवार]] शहराजवळ आहे. भारतीय आरमाराने दाबोळी मध्ये ७५० कोटी रुपयांची गुंतवणूक केलेली असल्यामुळे हा तळ कारवारला नेणे शक्य व उचित नाही असे म्हणलेले आहे.<ref name="Goa_Plus_Article">D'Cunha C. २००७मध्ये भारतीय आरमार, भारतीय विमानतळ प्राधिकरण आणि कर्नाटक राज्य सरकारने कारवारमधील धावपट्टी २,५०० मी इतकी लांब करण्याचा प्रस्ताव ठेवला होता. यासाठी ७५ हेक्टर जमीन संपादन करण्याचाही विचार होता. या मोठ्या धावपट्टीवर एरबस ए-३२० सारख्या विमानांना उतरणे शक्य असते. परंतु या प्रस्तावावर पुढे कार्यवाही झालेली नाही.

In early 2007, there were reports of a concerted move by the Navy, the AAI, and the state of Karnataka to extend the runway planned at the naval base at Karwar to 2,500 metres (8,200&nbsp;ft) to accommodate [[Airbus A320]]s and to acquire 75 extra hectares for this purpose.<ref>[http://pib.nic.in/release/release.asp?relid=23471 Government Exploring Possibilities opening of Karwar Airport for Civilian Air Services] Press Information Bureau Government of India</ref> However there have been no corresponding plans announced so far to relocate flight training from Dabolim to this airport or any other more convenient place. Meanwhile plans for the naval air station at Karwar have been put on the back-burner.
 
==मोपाचा पर्याय==
Years ago the Navy accorded its approval to the civil aviation ministry's plans to locate a greenfield airport at Mopa in the northernmost tip of Goa. At the same time, the civil aviation ministry moved a resolution in March 2000 whereby Dabolim civil enclave would close once Mopa airport came on stream. The resolution was passed by the Union Cabinet. But opposition to such a prospect for historical and practical reasons, which was dormant since mid-2000, grew virulent in mid-2005 when ICAO submitted a report about the plans for the new Mopa "international" airport. It was felt that it would result in the closure of Dabolim civil enclave by default or by design.
