ह्या पानाचा दुवा सेंट्रल नोटीस मधुन देण्यात आला आहे. आज बहुसंख्य मराठी व्यक्तिंना Windows XP किंवा त्यापुढील version उपलब्ध होऊ लागली आहे त्यामुळे फॉंट लिहिता येतनाही या तक्रारी सरावाच्या अभावाने बहुसंख्य मराठी लोकात असल्यातरी वाचताच येत नाही वाचताच येतनाही या तक्रारी आता कमी झाल्या असणे अपेक्षीत आहे . तेव्हा हा पान दुवा अजूनही सेंट्रल नोटीस मध्ये असणे गरजे चे आहे काय? अर्थात परदेशात रहाणार्‍या व्यक्तिंना आणि बॉट्सना वाचनाचा प्रॉब्लेम अजूनही पुढे येताकाही काळ येत राहील हे संभव आहे तुम्हाला काय वाटते.

Hi, I have download the Baraha, and did the setting for Marathi with Unicode, but i can not actually see my roman letters getting converted to Devanagari. Can someone please help me?

- Hello Himanshu,
- Please follow the instructions in Baraha's installation manual. The installation requires to delete few font files from Baraha's own directory (where it is installed, e.g. c:\program files\baraha). The list of fonts to be deleted from this/similar directory are given in the manual. This procedure (to my information) may be valid only for older versions. Current version might have fixed this problem.

Can't type in WYSWYG manner in IE संपादन
Hi,
I have installed Baraha 5.0 on my PC (Windows 2000). I can type Marathi words in MS Word etc. However, when I copy paste the content from MS Word into the text edit box in IE then I get garbage characters. The workaround for this is to include proper < font > tag. But I want to have the WYSWYG effect in the text edit box. I am seeing existing text (typed by others) in the edit box in Marathi. But when I try to alter the text, English characters are printed/displayed (or garbage characters are printed if tried to type with Help of Baraha - by pressing <F11>). Please help.

- You can install Baraha 6.x (the latest one) which has a utility called 'Baraha Direct'. With little configuration (press F12 for that), one can type Devanagari in any application in windows directly. Before upgrading to Baraha 6.x, do uninstall older version and then proceed. Let's us know any further concern.

- परंतु, माझी अडचण पुर्णपणे दूर झालेली नाही. मी बरह ६.० इनस्टॉल केले. सद्ध्या मी बरह ६.० मधुन मराठी अक्षरे लिहू शकतो (व ईंटरनेट एक्सप्लोररवर पेष्ट करु शकतो). परंतु, बरह डायरेक्ट ६.० मधुन मी अजुनही मराठी अक्षरे ईंटरनेट एक्सप्लोररमध्ये टाईप करु शकत नाही. तरी सद्ध्या माझ्याकडे बरह ६.० चा पर्यायी मार्ग उपलब्ध आहे. दिलेल्या मदतीबद्दल धन्यवाद!

- Using Baraha 6.0 I can construct Marathi text and copy-paste it in IE edit box. However, I can't copy the existing typed Marathi text from IE edit box to Baraha or any other application and make modifications to it. Secondly, in Baraha Direct 6.0 I have kept the Indian Language as "Marathi" and output format as "ANSI". After activating the Baraha Direct utility I can type Marathi words in MS Word by selecting the BRH Devnagari font. But, when I try to type in IE edit box then I get garbage.

- Hi,
- Tried that already, but it is not working. When I switch to UNICODE, I get ???? characters on IE edit box. In notepad, when I select BRH Devnagari font and start typing with UNICODE, then I get blank characters. Selecting ANSI resolves this issue and I can type marathi characters in notepad. Similarly, if I try to type in IE edit box with ANSI then I get garbage characters.
- I guess if I can select proper editing font in IE edit box (as I select in notepad), then I should be able to type Marathi characters with ANSI setting. Do you know any such setting in IE to change the font for edit box? Also what do you think may be causing the blank characters in UNICODE setting?

- I found out what the problem is. I was using Deepnet Explorer as my browser that uses IE engine in background. Finally I could type/modify text in Marathi by launching IE window. I am giving the steps I followed to help other who may face same issue in future. These steps are useful for people who are using Windows 2000.
- Go to Control Panel -> Regional Options
- Select "Indic" under "Language settings for the system"
- Click "OK", the system will ask you to restart
- Restart the system
- Install Baraha 6.0 from http://www.baraha.com
- Start Baraha Direct 6.0 and press F12
- In the configuration screen select "Marathi" as Indian language and UNICODE as Output format
- Whenever you want to type in Marathi press F11 and then type (press F11 again to type in English). Note that you don't need to select any special font for doing this. You can type in Marathi at almost anywhere like in notepad, Start Menu->Run edit box, MS Word etc.
- Don't use non-standard browsers that use engines of IE/Netscape in the background (e.g. Deepnet Explorer). I have found out that the edit box under Deepnet Explorer prints ??? characters instead of devnagari characters.

- I suggest to have a common glossary at the end of the document, which should contain links to various software such as Baraha. These links can then be referred internally within document.
- There can be other solution also. Instructions specific to software can also be provided on page dedicated to that software. For example, Baraha-related instructions can reside on Baraha's own page in this wikipedia.

I am trying to develop a Marathi web applicaiton. For input I am using inscript built into WinXP. I noticed that the UTF8 sequence I get from the browser does not map to Devanagari code page for vowels (other than aa) and some other characters. I cannot therefore type 'mumbai' since it involves vowels 'u' and 'e' which do not come back in Devanagari code page.
Has any one met with a similar observation?

- besides on en wiki there are two related articles one on hindi wiki and this one .Articles may need serious update but I am surprised number of querries from first time visitors are too less .Realy are not they facing any problems,now a days?

- I agree. I am splitting into two parts: Windows and others.
- Windows page would remain the default page and other users need to navigate to other articles from this page.
- Such as for Linux.
- I need one suggestion however. Should I create separate articles for Gnome/KDE etc and link them appropriately across platform articles?
- I am asking this question because Gnome/KDE are now available on other *NIX flavours and even Windows.

Marathi font rendering not proper in Ubuntu संपादन
Hi,
Recently I have shifted to Ubuntu 7.04 (Feisty Fawn). However, Marathi text is not properly rendered on my computer. I am seeing the issue described in "Check for existing support" section. I also tried starting the firefox using the command "MOZ_DISABLE_PANGO=0 firefox". Still the problem persists. I am able to enable the Devnagari input on my system and it is rendered properly in the editor when inputted by me. What might be wrong?

For some weird reason completely unknown to me I can't type in my own charset, whenever I hit any key I get some strange unicode char instead of what I wanted to type, although my char encoding is ISO-8859-1(5) (which seems to be altered to UTF-8 against my will). What can I do to get back the control on my computer??

माझ्या काही शंका खाली नमूद करत आहे. कृपया त्यावर उपाय सुचवावेत ...
1. मराठी विकिपीडिया वर संपादनासाठे वेगळा 'एडिट' बॉक्स वापरला जातो का? मराठी मधे कुठलाही लेख संपादित करताना जो एडिट बॉक्स दिसतो त्यात उजव्या बाजूला 'अनुक्रमाणिका' दिसते. अशी अनुक्रमाणिक इंग्रजी विकिपीडिया मधे दिसत नाही. पूर्वी इंग्रजी प्रमाणेचं मराठी मधे साधा 'एडिट' बॉक्स दिसायचा. नवीन दिसायला लागल्या पासून, 'मराठी मधे टंकलेखन करायचे आहे का' असा एक 'चेक बॉक्स' दिसत नाही. त्यामुळे कळफलकावर कोणतीही कळ दाबली की मराठी लिपीतील समान अक्षर उमटते. अर्थात मराठी विकिपीडिया ने पुरवलेले 'ऑटोमॅटिक' ट्रांसलिटरेशन' बंद करता येत नाही आणि त्यामुळे इंग्रजी लिपीत टंकलेखन करता येत नाही. काय करावे ते सुचवावे.
2. शिवाय वर दिसणारी 'मेन्यू' पट्टी, जिच्यात अनेक बटणे असतात, ती इंग्रजी विकिपीडिया पेक्षा अधिक पर्याय दाखवते. हे बदलता येते का?
3. मराठी मधे टंकलेखन करत असताना, अकडे मात्र इंग्रजी मधेचं दिसतात. मराठी मधे अकडे कसे लिहावे बरं?
